James Arben – Saxophones, Flute and Composition
Initially taught by UK veteran saxophonist and composer Don Rendell, James then went on to Oxford University to study Music and continued to have lessons with Jazz Messenger Jean Toussaint. He then attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for his Masters in performance, composition and arranging. James has also studied in New York with Ralph Alessi and Bob Mintzer. James is Musical Director for Ethiopian musician and Hollywood film composer Mulatu Astatke.
James has performed at many major festivals in the UK (Glastonbury, Big Chill), Europe, Australia (Melbourne International Jazz Festival) South Africa and Brazil.
In other engagements James has also written for and worked with with The Heliocentrics, Mary Wilson (The Supremes), Brazillian musician Criolo, rapper Talib Kweli NYJO, David Axelrod, The Kooks, Digby Fairweather, Tim Garland, Gene Calderazzo, Jean Toussaint, Rufus Reid, Byron Wallen, Finn Peters, Alex Hawkins, The Glen Miller Orchestra, Courtney Pine, The Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Finley Quaye, Saravah Soul, Miss Hoodoo, The Black Jesus Experience and the Delta Boys, Joe Stilgoe. He has recorded many times live on BBC National Radio and played live on BBC.
James plays all saxes, flutes, oboe, bass clarinet, clarinet, vocals and piano

Fabio Zambelli – Guitar and Composition

Fabio gained a first class honors Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance from Middlesex University. He also was awarded a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance/Composition/Arranging from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London in 2002. Since then he was a prize winner student at the “Nuoro jazz” school in Sardinia. This was directed by Paolo Fresu. In 2005 he went to New York to study modern jazz and improvised music at the SIM Master classes with Ralph Alessi and Jim Black.
Fabio has played in many clubs and festivals in Italy, UK, France, Switzerland and Germany. With the renowned Italian “Civica Jazz Band” directed by Enrico Intra he has played with Dave Liebman, Eddie Daniels, Dave Ratksin and Patrice Caratini.
Fabio has worked as a freelance musician for many studio sessions in Italy and UK and has collaborated with the London based JPM productions. He also teaches guitar in London for the “City and Islington College”.

Pete Billington – Hammond Organ and Fender Rhodes

Initially training classically on piano and viola and later teaching himself to play guitar and bass, Pete's introduction to jazz came through BYJO and NYJO. He continued his classical training under Norman Beedie of the Guildhall before entering the Royal Academy to study on the postgraduate Jazz Course under Pete Churchill, Nikki Iles and Huw Warren.
During this time he began playing with the Clark Tracey Quintet, touring extensively round the UK and performing in all the major London jazz venues such as Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express Dean St and the 606. The band also recorded two albums, Live Fast Die Young and the Mighty SAS.
As a freelance player Pete has had the privilege to perform with many of the country's top jazz players such as Julian Arguelles, Guy Barker, Alan Barnes, Mike Bradley, Jeremy Brown, Ben Castle, Andy Cleyndert, Lawrence Cottle, Jamie Cullum, Martin France, Geoff Gascoyne, Nikki Isles, Peter King, Mornington Lockett, Mark Lockheart, Henry Lowther, Tina May, Jim Mullen, Mark Nightingale, Gerard Presencer, Martin Shaw, Bobby Shew, Martin Speake, Arnie Somogyi, Clark Tracey, Steve Waterman, Steve Watts, Don Weller, Bobby Wellins, Kenny Wheeler.
Pete now runs his own projects including a nonet (nonentity) featuring his original material. In addition to his performances as a jazz performer, Pete has backed many artists including Alison Moyet and Michael Ball and toured in Europe with Kid Creole and the Coconuts. He has just completed a new album with Salena Jones.
Laurie Lowe – Drums
Laurie has been playing drums since the age of six and has gained experience playing with many different artists in all kinds of music. He began his musical career at Drumtech playing orchestral percussion and drumkit in various ensembles, and had the opportunity to perform in world class venues such as the Royal Albert Hall.

Since then Laurie has gone on to play with some of the top Jazz musicians in the country such as; Gilad Atzmon, Nicolas Meier, Jim Mullen, Tony Kofi, Dave O’Higgins, Andy Sheppard, Mike Mondesir, Robert Mitchell, Zhenya Strigalev and Carl Orr, to name a few, in such venues as Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express (Dean Street), Charlie Wright’s, 606 and Jazz Café. Laurie has also toured with the Grammy Nominated American Hip Hop/R&B group ‘’The Foreign Exchange’’, receiving widespread critical acclaim.

Laurie Lowe is currently involved in various projects, one of them being Robert Mitchell’s ‘’Panacea’’, and another is a fusion trio with guitarist Dave Preston and bassist Kevin Glasgow, which is a group called ‘’Preston Glasgow Lowe’’.
